Meet the Mother Cluckers
In December of 2023, Ralphie decided he wanted chickens. He worked with his dad and a family friend that builds things for a living. Together they designed and built his dream chicken coop. Inspired by the show Young Sheldon, Ralphie decided to name his coop the Mother Cluckers.
Mother Clucker and Mrs. Queen
Mother Clucker and Mrs. Queen are the biggest chickens in the coop. They are both Bielefelders. They are a very friendly and love to be held.
Bielefelders are originally from Germany and known to be a very hardy bird. They serve a dual-purpose as they are great egg producers and also a great meat bird.
Miner
The gentlest of the flock, Miner was our surprise bird. She is a Blue Cochin chicken and has feathers covering her feet. She is the first to let you hold and pet her. She loves a good dust bath and is the only bird to not share her laying space.
The Mrs. Bs
The Black Australorp is one of the more popular chickens for a homestead. They are considered to be a reliable egg-layer and in the early 1900s one Australorp was recorded laying 364 eggs in 365 days. They are a dual-purpose bird and once done producing eggs, are a wonderful meat bird.
The Mrs. Bs were named by mom when deciding which birds to get. Mom thought they looked like a bird with a major female attitude.
